Hydraulic services FAQs

Here are the most commonly asked questions about our hydraulic services. If you have another question, feel free to get in touch.

How can I be sure I am getting the best hydraulic design for my requirements, and who is checking the quality and safety of the proposed system?

We have decades of industry and technical experience in the design and implementation of all types of hydraulic installations. We are passionate about what we do, and our designs are checked against ISO 4413-Hydraulic fluid power-General rules relating to systems.

How can I price check my provider to make sure I’m getting the best deal on components when it’s their design?

Put simply, you can’t. If you go directly to your local provider and they carry out a design and supply for you, they have all the control. We give control back to you. You commission the design, and you own it. This allows you to get comparable pricing from as many potential suppliers as you wish for the most cost-effective solution.

How can I be sure I’m getting the right components instead of the specific brand my hydraulic provider wants to sell me?

When you own your design, you can select the components you like from any supplier you like. Our interest is not in the brands used to create your system but in the suitability of the components to achieve your requirements.

The status quo of hydraulic design with local providers has worked for many years. Why would I change and use Harc instead?

Hydraulic engineering companies in New Zealand get between 25% and 65% off the retail price of hydraulic components and hydraulic hose and fittings when purchasing from large suppliers or big brands.

They can resell these components with small discounts or at retail prices when the design of your solution isn’t in your control. Some larger OEM manufacturers can go direct to the big brands and get their projects and systems designed directly.

These designs will use the manufacturer’s components rather than the most suitable, best priced components.

When you retain control, you can shop around, making your project more competitive and allowing you to carry out more work in-house.

Can you update existing schematics with changes?

Absolutely. We call it redraw. If you have the existing schematic in the form of a vxdf (visio drawing) file, we can simply make the amendments you require. If you have an older paper schematic and the original file is not available, we can help you there as well. Book a consultation, and we can look at your requirements and give you a no-obligation quote.

Why is payment in USD when you're based in New Zealand?

Our scheduling system, Calendly, currently doesn’t support payments in NZD. However, they are working on adding this feature in the future. In the meantime, your payment will be processed in USD, and you'll only be charged the equivalent amount in NZD based on the current exchange rate at the time of payment.
